<p>I didn't see an answer so I'll try out some ideas</p>
<p>1st off, as you noticed you should watch your versions -- php and
wordpress, many hosts will do automatic updated on WP, most not on
PHP (esp 5.x to 7.x)<br>
A version update could cause a previously allowed <span
style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:"Times New
Roman";font-size:medium">argument case to be downgraded and
so trigger a warning. <br>
Since it sounds like some post are not showing, it is more a
problem then annoying, you can deal with </span><span
style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:"Times New
Roman";font-size:medium"><span
style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:"Times New
Roman";font-size:medium">annoying </span>by turning off
warnings - usually in php.ini.<br>
<br>
You said you updated WP and plugins, and themes -- themes seems
suspects - esp since the issue is with post-custom-meta<br>
It sounds like the theme is using a custom-meta value that is
not handled right even with the upgrade.<br>
<br>
I'd look closer at the theme, esp since it old and that the
update is handling the meta right.<br>
Esp since the mac vs PC difference - it really looks a version
issue and possible with older code vs html5</span></p>
<p><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:"Times New
Roman";font-size:medium">Can't really do more with a direct
look at the server -- next step is to have it gone over by
whoever setup the combination originally</span></p>

new blog post in chrome on my Mac. It would not accept the

<div>The post DID show up as published, although with a generic
WordPress look and feel, not the usual skin that my blog posts
have. This is the new post: <a

<div>The two of my older posts I checked also lost their skin.
They are all supposed to have a green background that goes
with my site. It's not a big deal, but I'd like it to go back
to normal.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>I went back to the wp-admin window on the Mac to see what
would happen if I brought up an older post. Only two posts
show up when I click "all posts": the one I just reposted from
the PC, and a post about Ireland from 2014. This blog has been
active since 2004 and has hundreds of posts. On the PC, all
the posts are there--but I've lost the ability to reply to or
edit comments. And I notice in the Dashboard page that it
wants yet another PHP update (seems like I did one not very
long ago).</div>

<div>What do I need to do? Advice very much appreciated, as
always.</div>
