I just received the digest with this message so I don't know if the 
request is still relevant:

What verson of OS is on the laptop? If the drive is encrypted by Windows 
Bitlocker or similar at-rest encryption, it will be very tough to access 
without login credentials.

If the drive is removable and not encrypted, it's a fairly easy task to 
access files. I would first check to see if it's possible to log into 
the laptop with the same password as QB.
