[Hidden-tech] does anyone here know how I can submit an Acrobat Form to save at a file after it is completed?

Just chiming in that my firm has worked with the Kevin Hulse respondent below for years. His team has real computer science degrees and tons of experience, along with website tech of course. That combo is increasingly necessary these days, given the hideous entwinement between deep server tech and WordPress window dressing and the 5 layers in between.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the input, this is brand new… nothing except for the form fields have been created…

The idea is to try and get away from all the paper…. This 4-page form would be filled out be a potential employee, reviewed and sometimes the person is hired (then we can use all this information for W2 etc.) or they do not get hired and
the data can just be deleted.

Thanks,

don

Hi Don,

I think Ben is right that the least technical way is to use google forms. However PDF can do form submits to a webhook fairly simply https://www.google.com/search?q=pdf+javascript+submit+form&rlz=1C1RXQR_enUS990US990&oq=pdf+with+javascript+submit&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0i22i30j0i390i650l2.6895j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#ip=1. A webhook can be setup on a webservice, or you can use a tool like Zapier to receive the data and tie into any other existing workflow that needs to happen. It really depends on where your customer is at in terms of what is built up around this
 form already.

It could be worth it to see if the client is amenable to using something like Google forms. It would create a web based form that would dump submissions into an online spreadsheet, which could be downloaded if needed. it would take 30 minutes
 to set up.

Hi Don,

I can build you a Windows desktop app if it doesn’t involve a web site.   If it’s web-based, I can recommend someone.  A web page might be more complicated because they want to save the file on their local server and most likely their website is hosted in
 the cloud somewhere.

Best,

Rich

Hi Rich,

No, it will be on a Windows Server shared drive….

Although, I might be able to put it on their website…. Have to ask if they want that.

Thanks!

Don

Is the form going to be on a web site?

Good Evening,

I am creating a form for one of my clients, I want this form to “save as” a file to the network upon submission.

I would like to take data from the name fields and maybe date to name the file, then have it save to a default area so the persons filling out the form won’t need to know how to do this.

This is a form for potential employment and this client provides temporary employment, so they get tons of applicants.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have a great evening,

don
