[Hidden-tech] using a DBA or business name to sell on Amazon

 Hi Chris,

Talk to your bank about it. Some banks require you to have a business account (rather than a personal account) in order to use a company name, and in turn, they require that the company name be registered in your town/city as a DBA.

Once you get such an account set up (if the bank's requirements aren't too onerous), then showing a history of deposits and withdrawals is a piece of cake.

Years ago I got a call from my bank either from an audit or from their preparation for an audit telling me that I wasn't allowed to have proceeds from a credit card merchant account deposited into a personal account. Somehow I'd earlier slipped through some cracks. We (the bank and I) just changed one of my personal accounts to a business account, and all was fine from then on. They never demanded to see documentation that I had registered the company name that the merchant account was in.

So my view is that whether or not what you want to do is relatively easy depends on your bank.

Good luck!

I asked a while back about selling books on Amazon.

I would like to do it using a business name or a DBA rather than my own
name. Looking through the information on Amazon, it appears I have to
show a bank account and/or credit card that matches that name and has a
history of transactions. But, if I set up something new for this
purpose, at most it's going to show an opening deposit. I've read
through https://sell.amazon.com/learn/how-to-sell-books and clicked the
link "Sign up" just to see where it was going to go. It lists the
requirements.

Has anyone had experience doing this and advice on how to approach it or
whether it will even work?

I'm planning on setting up a historical trust and using a sales business
to partially fund it and serve it's objectives by distributing primary
source information and resources.
