Thanks for insights, everyone. HDMI input to the soundbar from AppleTV device, and HDMI output to the monitor. Voila. Occam’s Razor!

Does your soundbar have an HDMI input/output? If so, you should be able to route from the Apple TV through your soundbar to the television.

Seems like I’m a little late to the party, letting go of Spectrum TV in favor of AppleTV. Video is great, but I’m flummoxed at getting the audio to my external soundbar. HDMI takes everything to the monitor (LG), not a smart TV so I’ve got the AppleTV box. How do I get the audio to the sound bar? I don’t recognize the square-ish port that suggests a connector.
