Aren't all "modern" Mac's equiped with USB? If so, any *USB* mouse or trackball should work, even if it is said to be for a PC -- USB is indeed a "Universal" interface, and USB HID is a standardized protocol (HID is Human Interface Device, which includes mice, trackballs, trackpads, keyboards, game controllers, and anything that pretends to be one of these [like barcode scanners and mag stripe scanners]). I don't know if *mechanical* mice are even still made. But you should be able to get an actual trackball (stationarry unit with a ball on top, not a movable mouse with a ball underneath).
