This seems totally wrong to me for two reasons. 1)They announced it as a blanket policy, although each state has different tax policies and some states have no sales tax at all. (eg New Hampshire) 2)In Massachusetts, from what I know, sales tax is not levied on services, only on products. That means that a subscription fee is not subject to state sales tax. Isn't that correct? I want to make sure I'm on solid ground before I write back to them to object. And if they do go ahead and charge sales tax improperly (the subscription fee is $500/year so this would be $25+), how do you suggest I deal with that? Object to the credit card company if they won't budge? Thanks, Marcia Yudkin www.yudkin.com -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... As an aside, it also helped me to discover that for years I must have often hit an audio recording button that looked like other red app buttons, so I had tons of big audio files taking space outside of my manual delete methods. My Google-One helped find that problem. The small cost saved me, like, $500 in lost billable time. From info at herosonthequabbin.org Sat Nov 27 14:55:52 2021 From: info at herosonthequabbin.org (Justin Pelissier) Date: Sat, 27 Nov 2021 14:55:52 +0000 Subject: [Hidden-tech] New Non-Profit Need help Message-ID: My name is Justin. A good friend of mine referred me to Hidden-Tech. I have started a non-profit called Hero's on the Quabbin. Our goal is to bring veterans, active duty military and police on boating and fishing trips at the Quabbin Reservoir and other local ponds and rivers. The recipient can bring up to 2 family members or friends on the trip. We can fish if they want to fish or we can just go for boat ride and enjoy the scenery. Our goal is the provide our quests with a relaxing, fun day where we can create some nice memories. We provide refreshments while were on he water and either a lunch or dinner at the end of our event. Our goal is to have a team of boat owners that are avid fisherman, help us in our mission. We have been approved by the IRS for our 501(c)(3) I am searching for people who have experience in building a successful non-profit that can help and advise. Need help with social media, fund raising. Please get back to me if you can help in any way. Doesn't need to be too recent, only needs to able to run Big Sur so I think anything 2014 running Yosemite and later would be fine. It won't be worth it for me to buy a new one or even spend a lot on a used one but willing to pay a reasonable amount for a working device. If it can run Monterey (i.e. 2015 or newer) so much the better as the software I need to run on it is likely to update it's minimum requirements at some point but I'm sure it will be some time before that happens. I have spent many, many hours working with Apple support and for some reason his MacBook Air, circa 2014, running Yosemite, simply will not accept an OS update. I've figured out all kinds of things to try. I've tried going back to El Capitan all the way up to Big Sur. The versions prior to High Sierra (El Capitan and Sierra) have directly downloadable DMGs which I have downloaded AND attempted to install both. I follow the steps and it gives me the message that it was successfully installed but it actually isn't. I've gone to the Apple store and attempted to download High Sierra and others and get an error message telling me the service is not available and to try again later after clicking on "Get." I've done internet recovery two or three times and various other things accessed through various reboot options, i.e. option command r for internet recovery mode, Shift for safe mode, command r, etc. including Disk Repair, reinstall OS, and none of them work to resolve the issue. I've tried reinstalling Yosemite and that isn't working either because it is already installed. Apple Support says it needs to go to Apple store for possible hardware issue which I suspect will cost more than it's worth both for such an old machine or than he might be able to get a replacement used one for, which he already can't afford. Anyone else ever run into this and have any suggestions? It's frustrating as all heck!
