I thought about BuddyPress as an option. But it seems overbuilt — I want something simpler, if possible.

And yes, I am all about the collaboration, and I greatly appreciate you asking around! Everyone needs things like this right now and there’s no need to reinvent the wheel, or build a department store when you need a bodega.
