Those connectors are designed for maximum function & minimum cost. When inserted, the earphone plug moves a tiny piece of metal out of the way of another, and just touches it to get to the audio line. This moving metal also disconnects the internal speakers. There could be some dust / dirt there. Pushing any earphone plug in and out several times can clean it. Don't put anything but a earphone connector in the slot. While the internal connector is a 15 cent item, the cost of having it changed is probably a C-note. I meant to reply then, but my firm has been flat out with client work and upgrading all internal and client-facing systems. Anyway, DISC, Inc has been doing search marketing since 1997 and conversion rate optimization almost as long. Tons of proof of success and references you can speak with. When our new project management system is live in about two weeks, I pray it will show we have some availability, but if we don't, I can advise on firm selection. In short, though, ROI projections per web marketing channel should precede much work. With "medium data" (as opposed to Big Data) ROI can be predicted within reason before one invests much. As long as you have WiFi or cell data plan, you can talk to other people on the same service easily. Google has Hangouts and Facebook has Messenger. With decent WiFi connections, these apps work quite well. -Nathan essenceitsolutions.com On Sun, Jan 27, 2019 at 12:16 PM Michael Muller via Hidden-discuss < hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net> wrote: > There's also Skype, which does do voice calls pretty well, and works > across all devices. > > Mik > > Mik Muller, president > Montague WebWorks > 413-320-5336http://MontagueWebWorks.com > Powered by ROCKETFUSION > > On 1/26/2019 6:41 PM, Shel Horowitz via Hidden-discuss wrote: > > Both Google and Facebook offer phone options from a computer. She used to use a separate phone service to call (and I cannot remember the name of that service right now ? you would call a special number, then dial the phone in Greece). I used to get Skype video calls from the beach when she would stay longer than me (she?s a college professor and has the summers off). Now she uses Facebook messenger for most of the calls with the relatives. Its free and the quality is just as good if not better than the service she used to use. So if that is an option, and it took some time to get the 80 year old uncles on board (smart phone + training), that is what I?d recommend ? Facebook messenger. This means you have a new number while abroad and maybe that's something you don't want to do, but my experience has been that cell service in Europe is so much cheaper than here that it makes no sense to use a US based service international plan while there.
