I have also access to all your contacts. I made a video showing both you (through your webcam) and the video you were watching (on the screen) while statisfying yourself. I can send this video to all your contacts (email, social network)! You can prevent me from doing this. To stop me, transfer exactly 900$ with the current (BTC) BITCOIN price, to my bitcoin address. They're new to me as well. The initial emails (formatted the same as the one you posted), included a really old password I had a used years and years ago. As much as I can figure, your password and email address (and mine) were compromised at some point in the past, probably a corporate server-hack, and ended up for sale along with a horde of other leaked credentials online. Someone finally got around to hooking those up to a bot for spamming phishing attempts, I presume. The emails are safe to ignore, but I would not open any in HTML format or reply to them at all. There's nothing I can offer in terms of prevention or identifying anyone involved. creath Quoting Izzy G via Hidden-discuss : > Hi Folks, > > I've gotten some threatening emails and am not sure how best to > respond. I've recieved similar emails and am sure I am not infected. They're just preying on people who aren't tech savvy enough to verify their claims. The "this email comes from your address" part is likely spoofed email headers to make it *look* like it was sent by you, even though it was actually sent from a different address. Plus ? and this goes for all ransom and extortion schemes ? you shouldn't pay them even if they did have some dirt on you. They don't lose their leverage once you've paid them, so there's no guarantee they won't simply demand more money afterwards. -- I try to write short, functional emails. I know what you?re saying, but it is analogous to using STD infection statistics from the CDC to decide if you should wear a condom (to prevent getting an STD). It is always safer to assume you?re at risk and take appropriate measures. To the OP, I too have received many of these (in a few variations). I make sure to mark them as junk and I never reply to them. They get old passwords from data breaches and I recommend signing up for https://haveibeenpwned.com (or similar service) which helps to monitor when your account information has been found on the dark web... All this is my opinion, and I?m open to those that differ ? but I thought I?d chime in. Matt ???????????????????????????????? I have a plan for a first online game, to be funded initially by Kickstarter and later by subscription fees and advertising. I think I know what I'm doing in general and am looking for two additional developers to cover the parts I'm not comfortable with: one to do the UI programming and one to do the non-game programming (advertising, subscription payments, security, social media interaction, etc.). And of course both to help make sure that the path I have in mind makes sense and to help refine it as we move forward. These are not intended, at least initially, to be full-time permanent positions, but something one can do on the side or while between jobs. Payment, assuming the Kickstarter project is funded, would be partly cash and partly equity. Please respond directly to me if you think you might be interested in working on this or to the group if you have general questions of clarification. --Alan P.S. Background: The video game industry is notorious for underpaying developers, so seeing a UI/UI position listed as an artist made me go "Hmm." I've seen Western Mass tech jobs that were well below going rate; this was not one of them. Ron P.S. I wonder if we'll ever return to the prerecession days where employers actually list the salary range in the want ad. (I acknowledge this is now the norm across most industries.) This is a long standing local club that builds and flies all kinds of radio controlled airplanes. Many of them are also into drones and they might be a good resource for you. You can find their website at hampshirecountyrc.org . You will find links to local repair shops, in case you haven?t found them all yet. You can also be in touch with the club president, Mike Shaw at mshaw.spfld at gmail.com (the other club officers can be found on the front page of the newsletters, which are also linked on the website). The club is having their monthly meeting this coming thursday at their flying field in Hadley if you want to meet them and/or pick their brains in person. Message-ID: Hello, Hidden-Techies, A few of my clients have worked with Gaia Host for either Web hosting or domain name registration or both. In the last six months, communication from Gaia Host has slowed to a trickle and then completely stopped. I haven't found anyone who's heard from them since January. I now have several clients whose domain names are going to expire soon, but they're registered through Gaia Host's GoDaddy account. GoDaddy just says, "The domain names are registered to Gaia Host fair and square, so there's nothing we can do. Take them to court and then call us back." Has anyone been in this situation, either with Gaia Host or another host/registrar? What do you do when the owner of your business's domain name simply stops responding?
