Hi Jeff,
I agree, a back-up centered event would be very useful. Data backup
is only boring when everything is working well. And it's so important.
I have my oldest files on piles of CD's and removeable drives. (It's
not worth re-copying them onto other media, and mostly what's there I
don't need anymore, but once in a while they come in very handy.) I
have four external back up drives and another one which has bootable
copies of all my software. Sometimes it seems like over-kill but
experience teaches us that multiple redundancy is the safest plan.
If only technology wouldn't keep changing then knowing the best way
to store important files and data would be easy. Not that I want
technology to stand still--really not--but it seems as though storage
is one of those things we love to ignore until it starts screwing up.
I don't know much about on-line storage options but I'd love to hear
about the experiences other members are having.
Sign me up for the event, I'm looking forward to it!
Lynne
