To see whather this would fix the lost internet connection, when I
returned home I power-cycled all the equipment and restarted my
machine, but the problem remained. So this change on your end, by
itself, was not the answer for me.

Next I removed the Service name from the PPPoE configuration, updated
the Airport with that change, and presto - that has fixed the problem.
My Airport now seems fully functional for multiple machines in the
house.
Yay!!! What a relief.
However, I have a friend in Amherst for whom this did not work. Her
configuration did not have a Service name to begin with, so that is
clearly not the problem. (Also, she has a Zoom modem rather then the
Westfell model.) I hope to hear more about what other solutions you
find.

If you like pizza, try Regina's in the food court there. It's some of
the most authentic-tasting New York style pizza I've had since moving
to New England 20 years ago. Good stuff!

OK, waiting with baited breath, on behalf of my friend and also just
with general curiosity. Thanks so much for posting these replies.
