[Hidden-tech] Spread Sheet app?

Well, last time I checked (some years ago) it was free, but today I find
that the StarOffice suite is $70... for that you get the equivalents of
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and some kind of drawing app, and yes,
they read/write MS formats. I used the free versions way back at version 4
(they're now at version 8) and found them decent but a bit rough around the
edges - I can only assume things have changed for the better:
