Figure out how much you'd like to make per hour, add about 30% to 
cover overhead, figure the n8umber of hours

the end of the month--or just build a certain number of hours into 
the contract.

I generally charge half my normal hourly fee for travel by car, plus

You definitely want a paper trail stating what you're expected to do 
and how you'll get paid. Whether you need a formal contract depends 
on many factors, including the mutual level of trust.
