This is true for any email server, not just Yahoo and MS. The SPF record ("Sender Policy Framework") was created in April 2014 to inform the world what email servers are allowed to send email on behalf of a particular domain. If the receiving email server is configured to check the SPF for the "From" domain and abide by the rules set there, emails sent from other mail servers will be rejected as spam. This is what has been happening for some HT members who manage their own email servers and DNS. Blame the spammers.
