I JUST realized that I've been fighting with the program about nothing. If I fill the height of a slide with a picture, the width takes care of itself even if i appears to be hanging off the edge. The slide itself displays only as wide as the slide width, which is what I was trying to do manually. Thanks, Sam and DM for putting me on track.
