[Hidden-tech] Design Service

I want somebody to design a business card/logo/stationary for me.  My company is just me so I’m looking for the sweet spot of spending enough to get something that looks great and conveys what I want without looking like I picked a random business card template at Staples.  To that end I’m thinking something simple, maybe something were they use a catalog of pre-designed logos/fonts (like Pixel Logo) as the starting point, flesh it out and kick something out in a short amount of time so it doesn’t cost that much.

 

Preferably I’d like to throw it out to bid, get a bunch of designs/costs, pick one, pay the winner and get the high quality files from them.

 

Has anybody gone through this process before and have any advice?  Has anybody used a service like DesignCrowd or other service?  What was your expirence?
