Hello all, Please join traditional and social media, marketing, and public relations professionals as well as photographers and videographers for a one-time strategy meeting to discuss how the local media is addressing political efforts throughout the region. Our goal is to ensure that all local efforts have the best media possible and that it honestly reflects the incredible insurgence of political activism and organized efforts to address the policies of the new administration at the local level. Again, this is a one-time conversation and does not commit you to any additional commitment beyond this meeting. I'm happy to talk with you about this more. You can reach me at 413-658-8231 <(413)%20658-8231>. I hope you can join us! Warmly, Liz Friedman *Date*: Monday, March 27, 2017 *Time*: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. *Location*: Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center 100 Bigelow Street Holyoke, MA 01040 *Purpose*: The goal is to bring together people knowledgeable about media in the Pioneer Valley to strategize on methods to maximize the visibility of the resistance here. It has become clear over the past few months that local media, particularly television and mainstream print media, are not giving sufficient coverage to the events that have taken place. We need to change that. We want to gather a small group of people: 1) Knowledgeable about the workings of local media; 2) With insider information on how decisions about coverage are made; 3) To develop a strategy that will benefit all the groups working on resistance to increase coverage we receive; 4) To strategize how to develop a team that will work as a resource for local groups specifically on media coverage, and that will be a part of the initial planning for events to maximize media as a tool for us; 5) To mobilize people to put pressure on the media when they ignore us; 6) And to respond to media coverage to counter the overwhelming number of negative comments that appear on media websites and social media to our events and relevant news stories. We also need to develop a comprehensive media list that includes not only mainstream media, but alternative media sources (bloggers, social media, etc.) Please RSVP by March 20 to: Barbara Johnson, 413-219-0398 <(413)%20219-0398> -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
