My guess is that somehow, you reset the drum counter.  I recently replaced the 
drum unit on my Brother printer and the instructions call for a arcane ritual 
to reset the counter (power off, then power on while standing on your head 
while facing Meca or some such nonsense -- actually some magic pressing / 
holding down the control panel buttuns while the various lights blink, etc.). 
The only way the printer knows that you really replaced the drum unit is to 
reset the counter.

Probably.  It will probably print for awhile, but if the drum unit really is 
"worn out", it will fail in some way soon (probably fail to print clean 
copies).
