Job Title: IT Specialist

Location:   CareerPoint in Holyoke, occasionally works in surrounding communities

Shift:      Days

Reports To:       Information Technology Director

Salary Range:       $35,000 to $38,000, depending on skills and experience

SUMMARY: Working closely with the Director of Information Technology, supports the training, data and other technical needs of CareerPoint and its community partners in the delivery of workforce development services.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

* Actively supports through task and attitude, the priority CareerPoint places on exceptional customer service.

* Configures, troubleshoots and repairs desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, etc.

* Installs, uninstalls and configures various software applications (Antivirus, MS Office, etc.).

* Installs hardware such as cables, phones, wireless adaptors, and others.

* Upgrades software components and network hardware as required. Test software compatibility with existing hardware and programs.

* Research best price of products and services.

* Performs security updates (Internet browsers, Adobe, Antivirus, Windows, etc.)

* Cleans up computers, and peripheral devices.

* Improves technical checklists to enhance IT processes. Maintains records.

* Maintains hardware and software inventory.

* Desire to learn how to teach computer workshops for career center customers and staff, both on and off site.

* Work with training department to assist in the development and documentation of curricula for computer workshops to meet the needs of diverse customers.

* Assists in the preparation of computer-aided instructional technology materials for staff.

* Supervises and works with IT volunteers and interns as needed.

* Assists in maintaining CareerPoint Website.

* Participates on interdepartmental teams as needed.

* Exhibits professionalism by attendance, punctuality, appearance, demeanor, and the willingness to go beyond normal job expectations.

* Functions in a manner consistent with CareerPoint's mission and goals.

* Other General duties as required.







REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Ability to maintain excellent working relationship with co-workers and customers from diverse backgrounds.

* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team as well as to set priorities and manage own time in order to maximize productivity.

* Ability to manage multiple projects.

* Ability to exercise discretion in the handling of confidential information and material.

* Ability to work flexible hours with occasional evening and weekend work if necessary

* Proficient knowledge of Windows Operating System, MS Office 2013, Antivirus, Data Base Management (Access a plus), Social Media, Server Systems (VMWare a plus) and Networking (Certifications a plus).

* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

* Like to keep up to date with the latest technology. Enthusiasm to be continually learning.

* Two years of experience is preferred.

* Fluency in Spanish and English - read, write, speak is preferred.
