[Hidden-tech] Sole proprietor "assets" for college

The one we needed to complete for Barnard was there own invention, asking all sorts of questions that were not asked elsewhere, to determine where your cash is hiding. As it turns out, my daughter said she never met anyone at Barnard (besides herself) that was not paying full price.

Yes each school asks for something different. Also from year to year they change what is requested. There is FAFSA and then an additional college board financial aid system. Check with the school.

Thanks for your responses. Yes Andrew, after some more digging it appears that assets such as bank accounts do NOT need to be included. This link explains it pretty clearly:

Hi Tom,

Gosh college seems expensive.

I was surprised to read that (for the most part) the assets do NOT count or have to be listed on FAFSA per these articles on a couple of the better college finance websites:

Good luck!

Hello, fellow hidden-techers,

Does anyone know: Is the money in a self-employed sole proprietor's bank account considered "assets" for a family when determining financial aid for colleges.
