In my experience, drums cost 1/4 to 1/3 the cost of the printer.

I had 2 Brother HL-2270DW's for 7 years.

One died (motor blown) last winter, so I trashed it.

The other is still going strong.

I get my ink from Ink Owl, and refill the cartridges myself, saving lots of cash!

I replace the drums at ~ 50K sheets printed.

Be well !

Hello all,

My trusty Brother HL-2270DW which I've had for ? Eight years? Told me
that the drum needed replacing.(Yellow light blinking.) It wouldn't
print. Investigated cost of drum vs. cost of new printer and decided
that new printer was the better option, especially give the age of the
printer and new operating systems coming etc. (Yes, I hate the fact of
upgrades/disposal etc.)

Never unhooked it. And lo and behold it's printing again! So....

Is this a temporary reprieve?
Should I return the new Brother L-2340DW that is still in it's box
(delivered over the weekend)?

Or ?

It would be helpful to have some input.

Thanks!
Annamarie
