Coupla things.

Car stereos are usually designed to drive 4-ohm (and sometimes 2-ohm) 
speakers. These speakers are 8-ohm, so the stereo will only be able to 
deliver part of its "rated power" before clipping.

Smaller speakers with (relatively) good bass response are generally less 
sensitive than speakers that are larger and/or have poorer bass response.

What is the car stereo you are using?
