Generally a Codec error means PowePoint can't play the type of audio file you are using. Try linking to an mp3 or some other generic audio file type and see if that runs. Not sure what is supported on PPT 2010, but you could always convert the file to another type if necessary. (Avoid WAV-they are too big.)
