Telecommuting is one common solution to this dilemma. For the last five years I’ve worked full-time as Software Developer for a company in Atlanta (Cox Media Group); in a couple weeks, I start as Senior Developer for a company in Waltham (Lionbridge), also a telecommuting role.

For recruiting in our region, my top recommendation is Jackie Fallon and her team at FIT Staffing. They know the region and are very well established. And frankly it’s refreshing to work with a recruiter who understands that despite being in the same state we are 100 miles from Boston.
