Hi Hidden-Tech, This email is directed at students and non-students who are interested in game development in the Pioneer Valley. Please help spread the word! - - - Participate this year's Five College Global Game Jam being hosted at Hampshire College from January 29 - 31st. Hampshire College is one of over 600 sites participating in this year's Global Game Jam event that's taking place simultaneously in 87 countries around the world. The title of our jam site is called the Five College Global Game Jam (Spring 2016). While we are catering and encouraging students from the Five Colleges to participate, the event is open to everyone so please spread the word! *HOW TO PARTICIPATE* The event is free and open to the public, but anyone interested must register to participate. To register, visit the following link and sign-up by Friday Jan 29, 2016. http://globalgamejam.org/2016/jam-sites/five-college-global-game-jam-spring-2016 More information can be found here: http://gamejam.hampshire.edu *ABOUT* The goal of a game jam is for participants working in teams to create a digital or non-digital game over the course of the event. This is a 48 hour game development event from 5pm Friday (1/29) to 5pm Sunday (1/31). People in all areas of game development (programming, design, art, audio, etc.) are encouraged to participate. *FORMING TEAMS * At the start of the event, a theme is announced from the Global Game Jam organizers. After the theme is announced, a brainstorming session occurs where game ideas are formed around the theme. Game ideas are then pitched to the group. After a voting process, game ideas are solidified and teams (usually 3-8 people) are formed. Teams may begin working on their game immediately. *DEVELOPING GAMES* Each team will use the remaining time to use the skills and resources available to them to rapidly create a game. At the end of the event, all games (complete or incomplete) will be presented locally in a final ceremony. Games will also be submitted to the Global Game Jam site where they will be showcased among all the jam games from around the world. Anyone interested in game development is highly encouraged to participate. It's a wonderful way to gain experience, network, make your own game and of course...have fun. Again, the event is public and students and non-students are invited, so spread the word. For questions, message us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/5collegegamejam/ Hope to see you there!
