I do this sort of thing regularly. If the files appear accessible but report corrupt, we can flip a coin, but it adds hope. Several tools might repair the apparent damage to the 'backup drive', and outright data recovery tools may be able to rescue from either or both drives. If my tools can't solve the matter, I suggest DriveSavers - only when all else fails.
