Hi HTers, I could use some advice regarding phone service. I live in Colrain and on Tuesday morning several large trees came down taking all the power & phone lines with them. Power was restored in about 9 hours, but I'm still without phone service. This is the first time since moving here in 2009 that I've lost my phone service this long after a storm. I would prefer to hear only from people who have Hughesnet internet and are in a non-cell phone service area as you would understand the most of what I'm dealing with. I have a Verizon landline, since there is no cell service where I am. I have Hughesnet internet with a15gb monthly download allowance. Whenever the weather turns bad, such as during heavy rain, snow, fog or during a thunderstorm I lose my signal. So I'm not very interested in using the phone service that Hughesnet offers. I don't have a "smartphone", instead I'm still using an older flip style phone as I spend most of my time working from home and see no reason to spend money on a phone that I can't use while here. But would consider upgrading to a more "modern" phone. If you are in the same predicament I would like to hear from you as to what my choices might be for phone service. Thanks, Charles Helping those who LOVE their work, but HATE their paperwork. Charles D. Lappen, M.Ed.
