I have a 2008 macbook pro which I recently replaced with Apple’s just updated Mac Mini. One get’s so much more power for the money if one really doesn’t need a portable. My portable still serves as the occasional travel companion. The mini comes with no keyboard or monitor, but most people have those already, and I got a good second monitor for under $100 (rare deal, but one can get quality relatively inexpensively these days). The mini has a lot more connecting ports than a portable. With the flash or Fusion drive (hybrid of flash and disk, 1 terabyte in my case), it’s incredibly fast. Reboot in under 30 seconds, and all software loads in seconds. Amount of memory, size of hard drive and all that good stuff? I want enough umph to edit videos. I have not kept up with Apple technology and would love to have some advice on what to definitely get and what would be really nice to have if it's in the budget.
