Pending signups I will start teaching a high school course in Social Justice Business at Paulo Freire Social Justice Charter School in Holyoke. I have a lot of information about this topic already from experience and study, what I'm looking to add is diversity of people/ content/ experience. Basically, I'd like to not only offer my view and information, but also opportunity to the students to see the broader world in this area. I'd like to provide the experience to see and connect with local business owners about what running a business is like. Is anyone interested in talking to them, opening your books so we can see some real life math, or engaging in some other way? I'd love to bring them to an appropriate start up event where they could learn from someone other than me. *Because of course the grass is always greener, and it'll be more convincing if a "real" business person says it*. Are there any events coming up? I want this to be a resume builder - what skills would you want or expect from a high schooler for a summer position? *I think they'd be thrilled to have an option that wasn't 6 Flags or a big box store.* I'm also hoping to get them some experience with 'essential' technical know how for today's business. What do you find to be essential technical skills? By mid-semester, or sooner, we're hoping to have a small business up and running so that there can be real world application of what we are talking about. I'm really looking forward to this and greatly appreciate any interest or feedback.
