[Hidden-tech] How can I add a picture when WordPress Add Media button doesn't work?

Hi Shel,
**
Fixing the current use of the images directory:**
**Make sure that capitalization in the URL matches the filename
/exactly/. It matters on Linux/Unix servers. There are other causes, but
that one comes to mind..
*
Fixing the "normal" WordPress operations:**
*There's a good chance that the cause is a script error caused by a
plugin that was designed to work with the older editor.

While the best resolution may be to find the culprit and
disable/update/replace/patch it, here's a possible workaround. These
steps may not work either, depending on the offending code.

In the WordPress Admin:
1. Go to Media -> Add New and upload the image.
2. Edit the uploaded image and look for the URL (right side). Copy it to
be used in the post.
3. Edit the page and paste the URL in the src attribute.

*Fixing the dual personality of your domain names:**
*1. If the sites are truly hosted in different locations (paths within
the hosting directory, database tables) but have identical content and
should continue to do so, consolidate your DNS/hosting options to point
to the "primary" domain with the second domain as an alias. This keeps
existing links alive while allowing you to maintain one copy. You'll
also be able to reduce hosting capacity.

2. After making a backup of your database, use a tool such as Search and
Replace <https://wordpress.org/plugins/search-and-replace/> replace the
old domain with the new one. This may not get all entries but should
take care of links within pages, menu items, and more.

3. Use some of the built-in diagnostic tools in modern browsers to look
for occurrences of the old URL. Firefox and Chrome will let you view
connections. Sort by domain/URL and look for the hyphened version. View
page source to identify exactly where it's being output and do what you
can to track it down to the cause. After completing step 1 this isn't a
big necessary but will prevent problems if you ever discontinue the
hyphened version.

4. Verify that the steps above redefine the <link rel="canonical"> tag
in your page output. This should happen by default if not overridden by
some SEO plugin. This tag tells search engines the "real" URL of the
page. No matter how much you promote the non-hyphened link, Google will
provide the version in the canonical tag in its results.

*Fixing administrative access:*
The siteurl and home_url options control most of the link generation,
administrative redirects, etc. If they are not set correctly, doing so
will help immensely.

This section
<http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#WordPress_address_.28URL.29>
in the WordPress Codex will provide some options to quickly force the
configuration to be correct.

Hope this small manual helps! ;-)
