Oh, they've though about it alright. Like lots of big corporations these days, they figure they can save the huge expense of insurance, social security and workers comp payments, employee benefits, and vehicle maintenance by just using "independent contractors". When liability issues arise, they claim they are not responsible for any problems related to non-employees. You are taking a big chance in hoping that nothing ever goes wrong, cause if it does, you are on your own. The company makes the bucks, while you take the consequences. This whole thing is likely to unravel over time with state governments and the IRS reacting to problems and tightening regulations.
