I don't have the latest version but the plugin, when I did use it, seemed to work well, as have other Markzware products that I owned. Why not just buy the plugin and include the cost of it, either all or in part, as a job expense? You're going to spend some billable time if you down-convert to Quark 4 anyway and you'll won't loose as much...
