Here are some of the Mac email clients worth considering.... Some of them may not meet your entire wish list, but will do most of your wants. You'll need to do some reading to see if they give you what you want.... In some cases, the app may require third-party plug-ins / extensions to do some of the things you want. (For example, Thunderbird has a large library of extensions.) * Obviously..... Apple Mail (with the help of scripts it can do some of your wants) * MS Outlook 2011 * Mozilla Thunderbird * PostBox http://www.postbox-inc.com/ * MailMate http://freron.com/ * AirMail http://airmailapp.com/ * PowerMail http://www.ctmdev.com/powermail/ Chris Hart Computer Support & Technology Consulting for Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Tel: 860-291-9393 http://www.MyMacTech.com From: Shel Horowitz <shel at principledprofit.com> Date: Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 10:23 AM To: Hidden-Tech Tech <hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net>, <tonyvazquez at me.com> Subject: [Hidden-tech] Fwd: Mac folks URGENT: what can I use instead of Eudora? Always a rather cranky program, now Eudora is refusing to send almost all email, and only bringing in a small portion. I suspect a port configuration error, but can't even figure out how to adjust it. Both my ISP (Charter) and my webhost (Hostgaor) insist they ahven't changed anything on their end. I want to be able to: * Open multiple messages at once that are not necessarily in the same thread--without having to open a new browser tab (GMail can't do this) * * Use an unlimited number of templates and signatures * * Support multiple e-addresses * Include attachments and subject lines as part of template emails (GMail can't do this) * Edit incoming messages, or at least change the subject line * * Change the subject line when forwarding a message * Sort into a large number of mailboxes and folders (folders have multiple mailboxes) * * Archive unlimited amounts of email and search it instantly, using either a partial or complete string, and with my choice of any or all fields, date criteria, etc.--even going back 10 or 15 years (GMail can't do this, either) * * Create address lists of multiple recipients and treat them like single addresses (type the first few letters of the nickname and get all the addresses ready to send) * * Sort incoming mail by any attribute (sender, date, subject line) and/or group all those sharing the same information in any attribute (such as all those with the same subject line) with one click * * Store a pending message to send later All of which Eudora does easily since at least the mid-1990s, at least when it's working. I'd also like to: * Display HTML email in proper readable fashion * * Click embedded links that are use anchor text instead of the actual URL * * NOT crash arbitrarily when e.g. moving several pieces of mail to certain mailboxes None of which Eudora does well. Right now, I have to go find the message in GMail to do the second or third. I'm guessing it will need to be a program that brings the mail onto my hard drive rather than shows it to me on the cloud. And hat's fine. And I'm hoping it will not only run on both my OS 10.5 desktop and my OS 10.8 laptop (Eudora won't run on the laptop) but also smoothly import old the old email, address book, and templates from Eudora. --> Please DO NOT suggest gmail. I find gmail very limited in its capabilities around search and around template documents, and slower than a snail. _________________________________________________ Watch (and please share) my TEDx Talk, "Impossible is a Dare: Business for a Better World" http://www.ted.com/tedx/events/11809 Shel Horowitz - Green Business Profitability Expert Helping you find the value in your values since 1981 - because Green isn't just good for the planet--it's *great* for your bottom line Contact me to reach Green, socially conscious consumers with marketing that has THEM calling YOU" Twitter: @shelhorowitz * First business ever to be Green America Gold Certified * Inducted into the National Environmental Hall of Fame http://business-for-a-better-world.com * http://greenandprofitable.com/ mailto:shel at greenandprofitable.com * 413-586-2388 <tel:413-586-2388> Latest award-winning, best-selling (8th) book: Guerrilla Marketing Goes Green (co-authored with Jay Conrad Levinson) Blog: http://greenandprofitable.com/shels-blog _________________________________________________ _______________________________________________ Hidden-discuss mailing list - home page: http://www.hidden-tech.net Hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net You are receiving this because you are on the Hidden-Tech Discussion list.
