That's what vendors of products like this prey on - people really, really
don't want to believe they've been taken.

And for enough people, serendipity will provide what looks like evidence of
efficacy (it can look like doing a somersault in your living room can get
rid of mice, if it seems like you saw fewer mice afterward), and combined
with a dose of wishful thinking, companies like this can manage to stay in
business.
