[Hidden-tech] Verizon router settings - problem solved!

Hi Jan,
I totally agree the Verizon tech support is next to worthless.
My techy husband did manage to figure out the needed port forwarding settings through several hours of trial and error.
Everything is working now - so no need for anyone else to respond unless you want to chime in on how useless Verizon is.  I had one rep who said she had obtained permission for me to get help from the premium level of support without paying extra, but then I got cut off and when I called back they had no record of any such offer.
I find the idea of having to pay to get something to work or to get simple instructions from them that they should have had posted online pretty obnoxious.
On the other hand, I should be thankful we're not still on satellite Internet out here in Goshen.

Verzion tech support is unreliable, if not completely worthless, and the
Westell has minimal capabilities as a router.  You need to keep the
Westell as a Verizon DSL gateway, but you can get a far better router
for less than $30 these days.  You have to switch the Westell to bridge
mode to use it with another router. The Verizon web site has reasonably
clear instructions for how to do that:

https://www.verizon.com/support/residential/internet/highspeedinternet/networking/setup/versalink7500/123709.htm#

You might ask the folk at Pair what routers they know and can help you
with before you go ahead and buy one.
