[Hidden-tech] US Census Survey of Business Owners

In addition to the other comments already made on this subject:

As I recall, our own Amy Zuckerman helped press for this data to be collected by the Census Bureau.  The results legitimize us in the eyes of local, state, and federal government agencies and can be used to press for the support services we need to grow both individually and as a segment of all businesses.  In the past, we weren't recognized as "real" businesses and our impact on the economy wasn't being tracked.

My business has been randomly selected for various of these surveys, including sections of the large business census (though I don't immediately recall its name).  I always received notification through the mail and was directed to a clearly government census website to enter my information.
