[Hidden-tech] Phablet?

It really depends on the type of book and the reader software used.

I use 3 different devices for reading books: a Samsung S4 phone (5"
1920x1080), a 2013 Google Nexus 7 (7" 1920x1200) and a Google Nexus 10
(10" 2560x1600).

For reading most text epub books, the N7 is my first choice, but the S4
is perfectly acceptable, and I would expect a phablet, which falls in
between, to be so too. For larger format illustrated books and most pdf
docs, the N10 is generally much better.

What makes the biggest difference is the reader software used. On the
two tablets, my preferred reader is Mantano Reader Premium. On the
phone, I prefer Moon+ Reader Pro, which has an unusual interface that is
better suited to small screens and single handed reading.

Both of these programs are vastly superior to Amazon's Kindle for
Android, but if you buy e-books from Amazon, you will have to convert
them to epub format to use them (which also means stripping the DRM,
which you may not feel comfortable doing) There are plug-ins for the
Calibre e-book management software that do an excellent conversion job.
