[Hidden-tech] Activate iPhone without proper Apple ID

This is probably what's going on, The Find my iPhone feature was enabled on
the phone. This article talks about transferring from one Apple ID to
another. The issue you are having is that you don't have the previous Apple
ID. Apple's official stance will be "Can't help you, sorry"

Here is an article to supposedly get around it, unfortunately it seems to
only be exploitable by iOS7 and older, so if the phone updated to 7.1 (or
whatever they are on now) it will be a no-go. Sorry, there are a million
articles and message boards with people saying their phones are "bricked"
because of this.
