George,

If she wanted to mail us the drive we are always happy to take a look. If
we are completely unable to get files the attempt only costs $44. If we
are able to get files you are usually looking at under $100. We make use
of tools like Spinrite and others to recover files off failed drives, but
we also have a few other tricks up our sleeves.

If the drive does need to go out for clean-room recovery the company we
usually send out drives to does 100% free estimates including a shipping
label (us only) Their estimates are generally $400-800 depending on how
bad the drive is. But very reasonable compared to a lot of mail out
clean-room recovery.

Thanks,

Kiernan Gulick-Sherrill
