I agree, Win 95 is very likely to have problems with modern hardware.

You might be better off downloading VirtualBox -
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads - and copying the original hard
disk to an image there (I can tell you how to do that on Linux, but it does
require a bit of expertise).   Then you can have a newer computer, and run
Win95 in a virtual computer - an emulator (but a very fast one) - which
emulates hardware Win95 will recognize.
