TED-Ed's commitment to creating lessons worth sharing is an extension of TED's mission of spreading great ideas. Within the growing TED-Ed video library, you will find carefully curated educational videos, many of which represent collaborations between talented educators and animators nominated through the TED-Ed platform. This platform also allows users to take any useful educational video, not just TED's, and easily create a customized lesson around the video. Users can distribute the lessons, publicly or privately, and track their impact on the world, a class, or an individual student. Join this interactive web stream (via Google Hangout) to learn more about TED-Ed and flipping videos. Buckland-based Stacy Kontrabecki is the Curator and Organizer of TEDxShelburneFalls; "I wanted to give teachers and past TEDx speakers the chance to extend the reach of their skill as educators, exponentially. The ability to reach thousands of students across the globe with this elegant, free technology -- it's just awe-inspiring. The caliber of the almost 300 TED-produced lessons and over 24,000 customized or 'flipped' lessons is astounding." These workshops are being presented in anticipation of the TEDxShelburneFalls TEDGlobal livestream event taking place on Wednesday June 12 at GCC, where day two of the four-day TEDGlobal conference being held in Edinburgh, Scotland is available to watch live. Leo Hwang, Dean of Humanities at GCC, is excited to participate in this partnership. "TED Talks are an inspiring resource for educators, academics, intellectuals, artists, and people curious about their world. Working with TED-Ed/,/ faculty can further integrate these fantastic talks bringing contemporary thinkers and producers into the classroom and onto their students' desktops. In addition, by learning how to custom design lessons incorporating videos with TED-Ed, faculty have another tool to reach students and help keep them engaged in learning about the world around them,/" /notes Hwang. *Additional Information* Friday May 17, 2013 11:00 am -- 12:00 pm Friday May 24, 2013 3:00 pm -- 4:00 pm Greenfield Community College, Sloan Theater, Ground Floor - Main Bldg. <http://web.gcc.mass.edu/maps/files/2011/08/gcc-campus-maps.pdf>, College Drive, Greenfield, MA Registration is FREE to the in-person training at GCC but registration is required to ensure your seat for each session.
