[Hidden-tech] LTD insurance

Hi Kristen,

I've had mine through Freelancer's Union for about 3 years now. They offer different kinds of coverage through different providers — I think my LTDI is through Guardian, about $25/month. Freelancer's Union also offers a bunch of other insurance coverages beyond disability: https://be.freelancersunion.org/benefits/plans/guardian-disability/2012/disability.

You've probably already been cautioned about the tax ramifications, but for LTDI, I was advised not to take a tax deduction on the annual premiums b/c this would mean that any benefit I may take — hopefully never — would then be taxed.

Hope this helps!

Jason
