[Hidden-tech] IPad file transfer

Another iPad app with PowerPoint compatibility is QuickOffice Pro HD (about
$15, which includes Word- and Excel-compatible components too). Creates or
edits as well as displaying ppt-compatible (PowerPoint 2003); it's
read-only for *.pptx (PowerPoint 2007) files. Some nice control features,
such as tap-and-hold = laser pointer.

Regarding connecting to an external monitor (or projector) for PowerPoint
(or other screen image), Apple's HDMI adapter is fine if the monitor (or
projector) has an HDMI input jack, and it carries the audio signal (if any)
as well as the video. Apple's VGA adapter will (I think) provide
similar-looking video but no audio.
The HDMI adapter, and I think the VGA adapter too, will echo what's on
the iPad screen (which is to say that the iPad screen stays "live" too) and
can provide a presenter with control functions.
I think there's a third option involving an Apple TV box. Maybe it's
that with that and an iPad, you can transmit wirelessly to a TV or
projector (but I'm not sure about that).
