I just switched to Carbonite after a failure with Trend Micro. My feeling is having at least one backup on the cloud and not only on your own hard drives makes sense (think Katrina). I was appalled at how long the initial backup took (six weeks to do about 60 GB!)--but in fairness, the backup speeded up considerably after reinstalling when another program crashed it, and I think the first install may have been defective. The first 10 GB took longer than the next 50. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for a promised refund from Trend, which for unknown reasons stopped backing up three months after I installed it. Moral: check your backups every once in a while. > ** Be sure to fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. > ** If you did, we all thank you. > > >HTers, > >After installing a new external hard drive that came with Memeo >backup software, my system performance seems to have degraded, and I >wonder if Memeo is the culprit.
