Friends,

One recent (free) entrant into this arena are the Google+
"hangouts"<http://www.google.com/+/learnmore/>-- the interface is fast
and simple and seems more robust the the Skype
equivalent that you tried, David.

We've "hung out" (annoying term!) with 1-7 folk to good effect.  Admittedly
these were all Stateside, so it will be interesting to see what happens
when we get UK, FR and IN together.

Naturally, it wants you to have a gmail account, but that seems like a
small price to pay (and many if not most of us already have one!).

Happy to hear from you off-list if you have further, specific questions.
