[Hidden-tech] Facebook Surprise Group Membership

You have control over your preferences until Facebook changes them again.

Facebook doesn't really believe in privacy controls.  You are not the
customer, you are the product.  Advertisers and data aggregators are the
customers.  Pretty much assume that anytime the user interface on Facebook
is tweaked that your account preferences have been set to "wide open to the
whole internet" and go and tighten them back down again.

There's a part of me that thinks that Mark Zuckerberg should not be allowed
to make any changes to Facebook at all until he can clearly distinguish
between the concepts of "share" and "broadcast" and prove he understands
the difference by explaining in a single, simple sentence what it is.

It is - at least for now - easy to exit these groups.  How much access to
your information, and to the information of *your* friends, these groups
get while you are temporarily a member is not something that Facebook had
been willing to disclose when last I checked.
