Online password managers are designed primarily for logging on to web sites, which may be all you need. I don't use one (see below), but have been investigating them recently and am considering using KeePass. I like the fact that it is open source (which means that someone will keep it going if the current folk don't) and because it offers true portability - you can run it off a USB stick as well as any kind of device or computer. I prefer to use a program that allows me to keep lots of other personal information securely, even if it is somewhat less convenient for web surfing. I've been using eWallet (http://www.iliumsoft.com/ewallet) for that purpose for many years. I have yet to find anything close when it comes to eWallet's flexibility of storing, organizing and retrieving nearly any kind of personal information. You can also have any number of wallets, each with their own password, and copy or move them around, or even keep them on portable media (although the program itself doesn't run from portable media), so it's a good choice for situations where different people share one or more computers. My one complaint with eWallet is that, while it has excellent clients for Windows and Mac, as well as for iPhone/iPod and Blackberry, it lags somewhat on Android, which is what I now use on both phone and tablet. They do have a good free Android viewer, but not a full-featured client, and the database sync doesn't work directly with Honeycomb (Android 3.x) on tablets. I get around that by synching with my phone and copying the wallet file to the tablet, but that's probably not an option for most people. So even though I will certainly keep using eWallet to store information, including passwords, I may also start using KeePass (or something like it) for web surfing.
