  Really, though, I have a box with several thousand disks. How many coasters does one really need? Now if we could find a way to compost them or use them as raw material in asphalt or to replace cinder blocks, then we really be making progress. I do recall years ago reading about a fellow who insulated his house with bags of "perfora", the perforated, tear-off edge paper from tractor feed dot-matrix printers - that people mailed to him...

    Claire -- this is great. But you forgot about what good coasters they make. And setting a mug of hot coffee down on an old floppy is a pretty good way to erase the data.
