Hi everyone,

I am currently looking for part-time assistant-level help about 10–15 hours per week. I work with educational publishers, and colleges and universities on print and media production projects (page layout, PowerPoint presentations, Q/A of edited material, and proofreading). The kinds of tasks I need help with include:

* enter edits in InDesign files
* preflight InDesign files and fix any errors
* convert vector and bitmap images to different formats for screen and print media
* format and compose PowerPoint slides
* convert PDF documents to text and clean up text
* mark up Word files with typecodes (similar to HTML markup)
* general on-screen proofreading and editing (in Acrobat, Microsoft Word)

I think the best fit for the position would be someone who has computer knowledge as well as a close eye for detail. Maybe a tech-savvy proofreader. Or, someone who has had some educational publishing experience at an editorial or production assistant level. I would also be open to a graphic designer with some book production experience (some InDesign experience is key). I am able and expect to do some training — I have methods I follow and I would want this person to follow them too.

Some work could eventually be done at home if the person has access to Mac and Windows and the necessary software, but at first I would expect this person to work alongside me to get up to speed on how to properly carry out the tasks listed above.

I'm flexible in terms of schedule but find I need about 10–15 hours generally. Possibly more during busy times. The rate of pay is $10–15/hour based on experience.

If you are interested in hearing more about the position, please email me (jason at sampw.com) a PDF of your resume (please, no plain text or MSWord files) and your contact information.

Thanks!
Jason
